The Vasco Da Gama Pillar is a historical monument named after the Portuguese who built it named Vasco Da Gama. It is one of the oldest European monuments in Africa having been built in 1498.  It is located roughly 120km from Mombasa town in a windy surrounding environment next to the Indian Ocean in Malindi.

Vasco da Gama arrived in Kenya in his endeavour to find a sea route to India.  He built the pillar strategically located as a sea route to traders to and from the East Coast of Africa.

This monument falls under Kenya National museums management.
