Lake Nakuru National Park is located in Nakuru town in Nakuru county and is famous for its huge population of flamingoes during the migration season.  Nakuru means ‘dusty’ or ‘dusty place’ from which Lake Nakuru and the town derived its name from.  The flamingoes are attracted to the algae in the lake which grows in abundance.
