Kiunga Marine Park

Kiunga Marine Park is located on the northern coastline in a remote untouched village on the mainland about 150km east of Lamu.  This marine safeguards its fragile coral reefs and large mangrove forests.  Its ecosystem includes a chain of 50 limestone offshore islands and coral reefs in the Lamu Archipelago.  The larger inner islands are covered in thorny vegetation while the smaller outer islands provide vital nesting areas for migratory sea birds.

The reserve is home to turtles and dugongs.

Kiunga Marine Park is part of the National Parks in Kenya under The Kenya Wildlife Service management.
