Dedan Kimathi Monument
[TheChamp-Sharing]Dedan Kimathi Monument is located along Kimathi opposite the Hilton Hotel in Nairobi. It was put up in honour of Field Marshal Dedan Kimathi, who was the freedom fighter that fought against the British colonial rule of Kenya in the 1950’s.
He was later caught and found guilty and executed by the British Colonial Government. The statue is of military regalia of him holding a riffle on his right hand and a dagger on his left that represent the last weaponry held in his struggles.
This bronze statue was revealed to the public on the anniversary of his execution.
